Unica Foundation has for the year 2012 provided support to Maya Foundation for the construction of 29 biogas installation in the Kaski District district. These have been built in the villages Serachour, Adhikaridhanda, Bidamani, Dhikur Pokhari and Saureni. A biogas plant offers the local villagers a lot of support due to the remote area. They are able to produce gas on their own to cook which makes them more independent. It prevents deforestation and villagers don’t have to depend onto expensive gas cylinders which even are not always available.
These installations produce gas to cook from faeces and green waste which reduces the expenditure for gas. The waste product is also used as a natural fertilizer for agriculture.
